Summer Coaching Clinics with Dieter van der Eyken B35

NEW COACHING DATES AUGUST 2021 TENERIFE

With winter almost finished it’s time to look forward to a windy summer on the canaries.  Get ready for a week full of action on and of the water.

Just like in spring I will be concentrating on 2 different levels of groups. This concept will give everyone the best chance to really step up to the next level.

FIRST DATES 17 – 21 AUGUST – INTRO INTO WAVESAILOR MASTERCLASS

The first dates in August are planned around the low tide. This allows participants even without any previous Wave experience to enter this clinic. Only requirements are that you can sail well up and down on the lake. Have no problem keeping upwind, water starting & doing jibes.

If you are already a more experienced wave sailor, but not ready to face the waves of main break Cabezo. This week but will build you up to it. Still allowing you to improve your wave riding and get into jumps like forwards & back loops.

SECOND DATES 23 – 27 AUGUST –  ADVANCED WAVESAILING CABEZO MASTERCLASS

The second coaching week of August is aimed at wave sailors who want to take their skills to the next level. If you are sailing on the sea regularly and want to step up your riding and jumping? Then this week is the perfect opportunity for you to really push your limits.

Planned with tides  allowing us to mostly sail the Worldcup spot at El Cabezo. This is the best opportunity to learn both high-end jumps and really improve on those rail to rail wave rides. This week is the ultimate chance to really step up to the next level in wave sailing!

4 DAY COACHING CONCEPT:

Given summer is our most consistent part of the year for wind & waves this clinics will run with 4 days of coaching out of a 5 day window. Even if the wind would only allow 3 days on the water there is still a lot of on land exercises & debriefing to be done to allow the best improvement. Ideally, we will have a day break in the middle of the clinic but like we all know to well as windsurfers this all is wind depended.

HOW DOES A COACHING WEEK LOOK:

FIRST DAY: Introduction day + group sailing session.

Everyone meets together at the Surfhub around 10.30 to get an introduction of the spot. We look at the forecast & determine the goals of the week. There will be a short theory lesson followed by a group sailing session to get a feeling for everyone’s level & adjust goals where needed. First pointers will be given & notice points for the following day will be given.

In case of no wind on the first day the day will change a little , the afternoon will be free & the group sailing lesson will be moved to the next day.

The 2/3 & 4th day: coaching on & off the water.

In general, on the windy days, we will be doing max. 2 sessions on the water each day from roughly 1,5 hours/2 hours each. This very much depending on the conditions & how participants feel like.

During at least 1 of the 2 sessions I will be filming from the beach (most likely the first one). Then giving signals to come to the beach and give a quick debriefing/feedback on the sailing.

At midday, we will do a quick video analysis followed by a second session. I will in most cases join on the water and in some cases do a little bit extra filming. In the evening we will run through all the footage & set up goals for the following day.
